Chemical engineer, Mr. Carlos Sordo counts with more than 11 years of experience in the renewable energy and development cooperation sectors, as project and program manager and business developer. He has lived in rural Palestine for 5 years working with several NGOs and solar mini-grid private sector. Furthermore, he has worked in Nepal, Mali and Niger on biogas and solar photovoltaic generation projects. He counts with experience working with Plan International as the renewable energy program manager and with the Spanish aid agency, working as renewable energy and climate change officer for EU cooperation programs with Latin America among others. At Practical Action, he is now Energy Access Partnership & Innovation Manager: he is responsible of managing innovative partnerships with other stakeholders (including NGOs, governmental institutions, private sector and academic institutions) providing holistic solutions to energy access problems in different contexts of Latin America, South East Asia and Africa.


Practical Action is a nongovernmental organisation involved in energy access for the last 45 years, providing renewable locally sourced energy solutions, which lift people out of poverty. It considers energy as an enabler for sustainable development, underpinning agriculture, business, education, health and well-being.
