Siten has developed several pioneering, award winning, inclusive business models within energy access since 2009. Having travelled through all over the African continent and having a Kenyan family background he understands the challenges first hand. He graduated from Imperial College London with an M.Eng. Mechanical Engineering and later attended the Imperial Business School’s MBA IE&D course to initiate Solaris. He is the CEO, supervising the operation, setting objectives and handling finances.
Solaris is an innovative, modular, pay-as-you-go (PAYG) solar home and business system, coupled with a robust distribution model and bespoke management software that includes mobile payment technology. Through our inclusive offer individuals living in remote areas of Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) will have the ability to gain access to the first rungs of the energy ladder through our affordable, paid for weekly, solar home system. We have two main downstream channels – via our own operations and via partners. In our own operation, we reach our customers through a network of local shops, alongside a network of sales agents and a referral reward system to encourage customers to recommend their neighbours. Our sales strategy continues with excellent post-sale customer service via a network of Solaris Rafikis, ensuring payments are made regularly and willingly, and guaranteeing that the needs of our customers are met. Via our partners we reach customers by offering a suite of tools, software CRM, ERP, support, financing avenues along with the Solaris hardware system. Partners can select any of the individual technologies or combine them in order to provide the best most scalable solution for their particular customer base.
