Energy Systems Integration and New Business Development

InnoEnergy and European Utility Week are joining forces. Understand the totality of energy systems and connect the dots with your line of work.

Energy Systems Integration and New Business Development

13/11/2019
European Utility Week, Paris
10.00-11.00 Meeting Room PEGASE within the ESPACE 2000 area
Duration: 1 day
Effort: 4 hours / day

Demand is rising for a global energy system that is sustainable, affordable and reliable. To meet this demand there is an increasing need for a new kind of energy professional: the next generation of transdisciplinary thinkers with the integrative mindset to join the dots, spot the opportunities and see the bigger picture in global energy. Join our experts and find business opportunities by learning how to use the ESI framework tool.

Delivered by InnoEnergy - one of Europe’s foremost authorities in sustainable energy education - this short, face-to-face workshop will be delivered during European Utility Week and has been designed to offer you deeper insights into energy systems integration. You will look at the totality of energy systems and learn to connect the dots with your line of work. You will gain the insights and tools to understand how Energy Systems Integration can be used in new ventures and business development. To get the most out of this workshop, it is recommended that you complete the introductory course on the subject (free) first. You will also benefit from enroling on our bundle of specialised courses although this is not mandatory.

What will you learn?

This workshop will allow you to apply the tools you learned in the online Energy Systems Integration courses in the presence of our experts who work in the field and who will be there to coach you. At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify the different elements of the energy system, such as power system technology, policy and regulation, energy markets, electromobility, and consumer behavior
  • Explain (or give examples of) how each of these elements interact and contribute to energy systems integration
  • Interpret contributions of experts from different disciplines in the energy field, from engineering and economics to behavioral science
  • Explain your (potential) role in the framework of energy systems integration
  • Apply systems thinking to your field of expertise
  • Learn how to use the ESI-framework tool, developed by experts in the field (see diagram below).

How will you learn?

During this interactive workshop you will analyse concrete examples of energy systems integration with the help of experts. You will learn how to break silos between the wide variety of disciplines that are involved in making the transition to a reliable, decarbonised, and cost-effective energy system happen. Through interactive exercises, you will learn with peers and experts in small groups to apply systems thinking and reflect on your own professional activities from the wider perspective of the energy system. In doing so, you will unlock new perspectives and overcome barriers you face in your business.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation, issued by InnoEnergy.
