Lithium cell pop-up lab

Design, build and take home your own Li-Ion cell

About this course

We have an R&D facility with a fully operational, state-of-the-art prototype production line waiting for you. Not only will see all the steps of how the battery is produced, but you will also get to build one yourself at our EnergyVille Pilot Plant. This is the only facility in the Benelux that offers raw material-to-application battery design and production for educational and experimental purposes.

Thanks to this hands-on experience, you will be able to quickly experiment with production line and  material optimization. So you become expert at managing your own lithium battery production process.

Is this course for you?

This course is designed for professionals and executives with an interest in electrical storage, ranging from the raw materials to battery management of lithium cells.

Who should attend?

  • Process engineers who need a specific understanding of the production chain
  • Quality engineers who need a broad understanding of the full production chain
  • Design engineers who need the same broad understanding

How does the course boost your career?

You will get a wealth of insider knowledge as you experience each step in the production process of a battery. This insider knowledge will help you improve your current processes, select a battery supplier, design a new product or troubleshoot your application. By the end of the week, you will have a better understanding of the interaction between design and production, and the influence of material design on the final application.

Teaching methods and materials

The entire course will be taught face-to-face in 3 locations in Belgium:

  • UHasselt in Diepenbeek
  • EnergyVille in Genk
  • Terhills in Dilsen-Stokkem

Transportation between locations is included in the participation fee.
